How It Began
Melinda’s Medical Supply was founded by owners Melinda Bartlett and Emilio B. Rivera. Melinda grew up in Hurley, NM, and Emilio grew up in Fierro, NM. They both graduated from Cobre High School. After high school, they both went to Albuquerque to attend the University of New Mexico, where Melinda received a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Emilio attended UNM for a few years and then began a career in construction.
Melinda began her career in the medical supply business while attending UNM, at Highland Medical Supply. The medical supply business became a passion for Melinda; she learned the business from one end to the other. Melinda was also involved with start-ups of two other medical supply companies in Albuquerque.
In 1998 Emilio and Melinda made up their minds that enough was enough with working for other people. In April 2000, Emilio, Melinda, and their three children moved back to Silver City, and opened Melinda’s Medical Supply in June 2000.
